A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a lively discussion about the pros and cons of working from home (WFH) with family. The user, Shubh, compared the experience to a “dystopian survival game,” suggesting that working remotely while living with parents could feel as intense as being in the TV show Squid Game.

“WFH is amazing when you have your own cozy apartment in a city like Bangalore, Mumbai, or Delhi, especially with your partner by your side,” Shubh wrote. “But doing it while living with your parents? That’s a whole different story.”

Shubh’s post, which received over 150,000 views, stirred up reactions across the platform. Some people shared their own experiences, highlighting how challenging it can be to balance work and home life, while others criticized the post, pointing out that being able to spend more time with family is actually a blessing.

One user related to Shubh’s experience, saying, “I also work from home, and my dad often interrupts my calls to loudly tell people, ‘Tell them you’re busy at home, you’ll talk later.’”

Another described WFH at their mother’s house as “torture” and said they dreaded the experience.

Many agreed that managing both work and home stress can be overwhelming, with one user commenting, “Office stress plus home stress equals a deadly combination.”

However, others defended the value of being at home with family. One user argued, “Honestly, it’s a blessing. By the time you get a job, your parents are usually in their 60s. You should be grateful to have this extra time with them.”

Another user shared a positive experience, saying, “I work from home with my parents, wife, and two-year-old daughter, and I love not having to commute.”

A few people felt strongly about showing appreciation for their parents. One user commented, “Working from home with parents is a blessing for me. With them around, I don’t have to worry about anything. I even get spoiled by them. I don’t understand why people complain about their parents so much. Be thankful for all they do.”
